3 Nontraditional Ways You Can Support Your Spouse

We all know of the traditional ways you can support your spouse. Things like: emotional, social, financial support.

What about some nontraditional, outside-the-box ways you can support your spouse?

  • Create some personalized rituals

    • This might be setting up a specific time to reflect on the week with each other, a Bible study, cooking dinner together, or maybe even a shared creative project.

  • Support personal growth and hobbies

    • Encourage and actively participate in your partner’s interests. Even if it’s not your “thing”, choosing to participate in activities your spouse enjoys shows them you care about their wants/needs just as much as your own.

    • Do something challenging together. Take on a new adventure that you can do together. Doing hard things builds a close bond and deepens your level of commitment to each other.

  • Creative emotional and mental wellness support

    • Engage in activities together such as cooking and gardening. Even sitting on the couch together enjoying a movie (even one you don’t want to watch) helps promote a greater bond and show support for your partner.

Many times, support is shown through small, mundane choices we make everyday. The “BIG” moments tend to be few and far between. Think of ways to show support for your spouse daily, and you’ll find that not only will they reciprocate, you’ll continue to grow in your relationship.
